Many mums appreciate the opportunity to stay at home with their children, but they also realize the financial pressure this can create. What Are Your Skills?
If you are a stay at home mom who wants to pursue an alternative income stream, it’s a good idea to make an inventory of the strengths and skills you have. Although you will be looking for a way to make some extra money that simultaneously meets the needs of your family and offers some level of flexibility, capitalising on your existing strengths is a recommended way to make money.
So what can you do to make some extra cash? Here are a couple of ideas.
You can check how your stocks and shares are going from anywhere. It is a truly portable job.
1. Trading
Have you ever considered broadening your education so that you not only better understand shares trading but are skilled and confident to do this on your own? If this seems like a viable way for you to create an extra income stream, it’s important that you learn through a credible organisation, such as Learn to Trade, and are cautious and prudent in your approach until you are more highly skilled and experienced.
With the best education and support available, effective trading is possible and could present a great way to generate an alternative income for your family. An added benefit is that you can often fit in and organize trading activity around the schedule and needs of your family.
2. Freelance Writer
If you have some skill as a writer, you may like to pursue an income through freelance writing. In most cases, freelance writing affords you the freedom of working from home and taking on work when you are available to do so. However, to do this job well, you do need to love writing and be aware that there can be competition for work of this nature.
Being a freelance writer is a great work from home job. You can do it in your own time, as long as you meet your deadlines. Brilliant for a parent working from home.
3. Childcare from Home
If you are home with you own children and have the space, facilities and desire to look after one, two or a few more kids, offering childcare services from your home may work for you. The pressures on the childcare industry are widely publicised, with parents competing for spaces and forced to pay high daily rates in many cities and specific centres. You will need to look into relevant accreditation and other processes and conditions, but childcare from your home may allow you to generate more income while being with your own family.
Working as a VA or otherwise known as a Virtual Assistant is great for parents. You can work from your home office and work around your family.
4. Virtual Assistant
Consider whether work as a virtual assistant could suit you and your family. If you are well-organised and have strong administrative skills and attention to detail, this could be a great job for you and an appreciated income stream to complement your role as a stay at home mom.
Being a stay at home mom can create financial pressure in some families, but there are a variety of ways to earn some money while you are at home with your children. Fortunately, many of these roles can be carried out to fit your schedule and require few resources; for some roles, only a computer and an internet connection are needed.
