Four Weeks // One Month Old

Rilynn is officially one month old! It is hard to believe that it has been four weeks since I went into labor and gave birth to this precious little lady.

Rilynn has been going through a growth spurt, which was extremely hard to get through. One night she wanted to eat consistently for about 3 hours straight and was screaming and crying the majority of the time. I started getting worried because she was clearly hungry, yet I was pretty sure I had no milk left. I didn't want to "starve" her, but I also didn't want to give her any formula if I didn't have to. I found a bunch of breastfeeding websites and they all said to just keep switching her back and forth between breasts - they also said that you are never truly "empty" and your body will catch up. Thankfully it worked and she eventually fell asleep. My fenugreek came yesterday, so I am excited to see if it helps out! Thank you for all the advice and suggestions you left me on last week's post!

Rilynn has also grown out of her newborn clothing (for the most part). She isn't "chunky enough" to be out of them and she definitely doesn't fill out 0-3 months yet, but she is so tall! All of her newborn footed pajamas are so short that she can't straighten her legs anymore.

She is doing a lot better with baths and acts like she even enjoys them. She can now stay awake for 2-3 hour stretches, usually the longest one starting around 6-7pm at night. She did develop a little cradle cap this week and also has started getting random baby acne. Keeping her face clean and using a little Aquaphor has worked well at making it go away quickly.

My mom decided to extend her stay again, which I was very happy about. With Ryan back at work it is nice to have an extra pair of hands. I also like having someone to hang out with during the day. We have had a lot of fun the past few weeks and I will be sad when she leaves next Monday. She was kind enough to take care of Rilynn last Friday, giving us a chance to go out on a date! I chose a sushi restaurant, since I haven't had any since the week before I found out I was pregnant. It was really nice to spend some time in "normal" clothes, talk and hang out with Ryan alone and also enjoy a meal. It seems like ever since I gave birth I am always scarfing down my food because Rilynn is also hungry and wants to eat - at exactly the same time that I planned to.

Besides that we are just making the most of every day we have with our little girl. We are planning to find a pumpkin patch this weekend and Ryan and I may try to squeeze in one more date before my mom leaves. Next week is Ryan's last week on base. He has leave stored up, so he is technically in the Army until the end of November, but he won't be going into work anymore. He still does not have a job, which has been a little stressful, but we are continuing to pray and trust that God will provide the perfect opportunity.

Here are some pictures from the past week:
