Remember when my husband told me we need space? If not, READ THIS! Back to the present, well very close to the present. Yesterday Jared decided to take one of his boys days and get some much needed wife-free time. I was feeling good about this because I really needed to write some blogs and get a package together to send out to my itty baby brother. Jared had been gone for quite a few hours, maybe 4? I sent him a text and this was his reply:
That's right! I asked Jared how he is doing and he sends me a photo of him in the medical clinic at the resort. I was freaking out when Jared called me and told me that he thought he tore his ACL. I don't know much about humans tearing their ACL, but when my baby dog tore her ACL she wasn't suppose to use her leg or put on weight on it for 6 weeks. I imagine it would take longer off the leg on a human. I imagine Jared laid up like in the movie big fish. Except I think he claimed he was off his leg for 3 years due to growing pains. Oh how everything in that movie relates to real life. After Jared was examined and they did X-rays they decided it wasn't the ACL, but the MCL which is the meniscus tendon.
J pulls up. Lord knows how he drove home from his brothers.. but he pulls up, calls my phone and asks me to come outside. He couldn't even move his leg. We had to carefully pull it out of the car and then he relied heavily on me as a crutch. For the next few hours I was at his every call. I changed his socks, got him ice, put him in bed, put pajamas on him, and everything else you could think of. At first I loved it, then I got really annoyed of dropping everything to grab him medicine. I decided I'd go out and grab Jared some crutched. So 3 hours later, I find the one place in Utah that sells crutches apparently. I went to 2 different walmarts, harmons and a few walgreens's. However, only the one in Draper sells crutches for future references.
I knew it was really bad today when Jared called his boss and said he couldn't go into work. Jared has missed work maybe 3 times in the past 5 years that I have known him. I urged him to call the orthopedic doctor to get in soon. It has be very bad if he stayed home from work, like 20 times worse then he is letting me see. He does not love when I worry, so most likely he's putting on his tough panties. The doctor that saw him up on the mountain has a practice down in the valley and wanted Jared to come get an MRI to see how bad the tear is. Hopefully he'll be able to get in this week!
I am hoping everything is good. Luckily my best friend, Ellen, is a nurse in training so she is comforting me every second.
I'll keep everyone posted! Do you know anyone that has torn their MCL, how was the recovery?
