Fun Things To Do In Bristol This Summer!

Posted on the 30 June 2015 by Sparklesandstretchmarks @raine_fairy
Living in the South West we are quite spoiled with the many beautiful towns and cities on our doorsteps,  and this Summer I'm determined to explore those places so close by more often.
One city I've only visited once on a night out with friends is Bristol, but lately I've been thinking about visiting for a family weekend away as there are so many fun & educational family activities on offer that appeal to me.
Here are just a handful of the places I'd love to visit:
SS Great Britain

I've always had an interest in ships, particularly those from years gone by, and so the SS Great Britain really appeals to me.
The SS Great Britain was one of the first great luxury passenger liners in the world and was the longest passenger liner in existance from 1845-1854 - after a long history full of intriguing tales, she now rests in Bristol and has been restored to her former glory as a museum.
With entry at just £14 per adult (covering as many return visits as you like for a year) and children under 4 going free, it won't break the bank either.
Bristol Harbour Festival

While you're at the harbour, the annual harbour festival in association with BBC Bristol is well worth a visit too - taking place between 18th - 19th July this is an ideal summer day out for all the family with fabulous live acts, street food and all the usual summer festival offerings in the beautiful setting of Bristol Harbour.
Bristol International Balloon Fiesta

If festivals are your thing, you won't want to miss Bristols annual hot air balloon fiesta!
This is the largest balloon event in Europe, with over 150 balloons taking part each year is really is quite a sight to behold and there is plenty of fun on the ground too with entertainment, stalls, fairground rides and much more besides going on over the course of the FREE 3 day event.
The Balloon Fiesta takes place this year from 6-9 August.
Wild Place Project

If nature & animals are more your bag then Wildlife Project is well worth a visit...this fun, family attraction  provides a fantastic mix of play, adventure and learning.
Visitors can Discover Madagascar which is home to several mischievous lemurs, visit the Edge of Africa with zebras and eland roaming in the grassland, see okapi and cheeky red river hogs in the Secret Congo and pay a visit to the striking gray wolves of Europe.
Banksy Walking Tour

One of the cities most famous children is of course world-renowned graffiti artist Banksy and so what visit to this city would be complete without taking a stroll around the streets to appreciate the early works of this Bristolian great whose art now sells for thousands upon thousands of pounds worldwide.
Bristol really does have so much to offer for every taste, and is a beautiful city set amid the countryside offering the best of both worlds - it is quirky and vibrant in its nature, and is a haven for shoppers and adventurers alike.
If you're planning a visit to Bristol this summer (And with so much on offer, why wouldn't you?!) be sure to make your stay comfortable by choosing the Holiday Inn Bristol - Filton which is ideally located and offers exceptional comfort and service at outstanding prices - this is reflected in its overwhelmingly positive TripAdvisor reviews which demonstrate why so many visitors to the city choose to revisit this hotel time and time again.
Have you ever visited Bristol? As always, I'd love to hear from you!
