Funshoot: Japanese Maid/Butler Concept

Posted on the 05 July 2013 by Ileodarod @ilevillegas
A few weeks back, I organized this funshoot with my little sister's childhood friends. I was honestly surprised at how much they've grown! And I'm just glad they agreed to model for me, even if I explained to them that I'm still a huge amateur.
On the day of the shoot, I was hoping for a sunny day because I wanted to have some creative sunset shots. Unfortunately, it was overcast. I was initially dismayed, but ended up liking the final results anyway. The colors looked vivid, although still somewhat dark and gloomy.
My sister, who was holding the reflector for me said that the weather went well with their outfit, which is probably something like a gothic anime maid/butler. Honestly, this is a very unripe concept. We lacked props and I lacked the skill and experience.
So here are the shots:
note: Sunlitneveland is my photoblog. I lost original copy of this picture, the one without watermark, so I reused this picture from my tumblr. :( I did not steal this from somebody else's website ok??

If you're wondering why my models have a resemblance, it's because they're siblings. Do you have any idea how difficult it was to make them appear like a pair and not a couple? I have to make sure they don't look romantic or else it would be really awkward.
So I'm not entirely sure if I was able to pull off the concept. What do you think? I might do this again someday, with more props and better photography skills, I hope!
On a different note, what's with teenagers and facebook these days?
I was quite shocked to find out that Azilej, the female model, has about 5000 friends on her facebook. On top of that, there are 4000+ people following her. When I asked her how in the world did she manage to acquire so much followers, she confessed that she had no idea how. She didn't join any pageant nor had she modeled before. I guess people just generally like her. She has that sweet, humble and bubbly personality after all. She even has a part-time job at Mcdonald's so she can have an extra income while studying.
What do you think?
Thanks for reading my blog!
