If you are in need of some extra motivation today, I have some good news for you.
According to a new study conducted at the University of Manitoba, the secret to success may be as simple as what you call yourself.
Meaning, if you call yourself a runner you’re much more likely to keep with your goal of running a few miles each day. Or if you want to start swimming once a week, your odds of succeeding go up if you start calling yourself a swimmer.
Unfortunately, the study focused on exercise habits, so there’s no data to back up its effects on your career as a dancer or painter. It should also be noted that these “titles” are more like skills or habits. So, telling everyone that you’re the CEO is still lying, not self-motivation.
