Just because Summer is officially over, doesn’t mean you can’t spend time outdoors! After all, Autumn doesn’t always bring wet weather, leaving plenty of opportunities to head outdoors and spend some quality time together and make some memories.
5 activities to get outdoors this autumn
If you’re a little unsure of what kind of activities you and your little ones can enjoy this fall then don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Read on for 5 outdoor activities you can all enjoy this Autumn.

Planting

You might have put the garden to bed for another year, but that doesn’t mean you can’t plan for the next one. Most gardeners will tell you that you need to be proactive when it comes to planting and preparing your garden for the seasons ahead, especially if you want to enjoy flowers and produce. So, head to the plant nursery and choose some daffodil or tulip bulbs or why not some wildflower seed from The Grass People? You can plant the seeds together and watch them come into full bloom next year. It’s a great project and the kids can learn a thing or two about patience and how things grow!
Go for a nature walk Autumn is a busy time for nature, so why not let the kids see it first hand? Taking the kids along for a nature walk will not only show them how beautiful nature can be, but also tire them out for bedtime! You can collect lots of different colourful leaves along the way or pine cones, spot all the different animals. If you plan your route well, you could even stop off at a local beauty spot and have some lunch before heading back home. Don’t forget your wellies!

Head to the beach

Yep! That’s right. Just because the sun isn’t shining, doesn’t mean that the beach is off limits. Check the tide times and head for a long walk along the sand, if you have a dog – take it with you! Have fun collecting shells, and maybe taking some pebbles home to paint. There’s nothing to say you can’t have an ice cream while you’re there either…!

Go and feed the wildlife

This activity can be done either at home, or you can head further afield. The colder months make it harder for animals and birds to find food, so why not give them a helping hand? You can either build or buy some bird feeders, fill them up, hang them in the garden and watch the birds flock to it. Or head to the local park and feed the birds and ducks there – remember not to feed them bread though!

Have a BBQ

Who says the BBQ has to go away because it’s not summer anymore? Fire it up one last time, get the kids wrapped up warm and roast some marshmallows. You could even make it a whole family affair and invite everyone over. Stick some sausages on the grill, a few piping hot potatoes and delicious fillings and you’ve got yourself a family Autumn tradition.
