I've had a week off from blogging and even had a social media blackout for a couple of days and I'm feeling so good because of it. I have been feeling the weight of the world it seems and that weight got to breaking point. I needed to take a step back, to breathe and just be.
We managed to get away with friends this weekend, camping at Waxham Sands in Norfolk and even though we went for just one day it felt like we'd had a long weekend away. It highlighted to me just how fast-paced our lives are and how much the slower pace appeals.
Camping may strike fear into many, even my husband has traditionally turned up his nose to the idea. Yet, as someone who has grown up on camping holidays, I know just how lovely they are and how good they are for families. Once you've invested in the equipment, it's a very cost effective way of traveling and having a getaway. There is a whole host of benefits when you go camping, which will be for another post. For me, it is almost like a wellbeing retreat.
An evening watching the seals play in the water, seeing our children form closer friendships, salty chips, BBQ's and crazy golf all make for the perfect weekend. The kids are at such a wonderful age and there have been so many moments where Jamie and I have looked across at each other and just smiled. There are no words needed in those moments because seeing them finding magic in the simplest of things are more than anything I could write. So instead of words, here are a few snaps from our camping getaway.
Getting away allowed me to reaccess and think about the future. I'm enjoying teaching a lot at the moment and I also love working on wellbeing - these two will be my big focuses going forward and think this will be reflected on the blog. I'm also loving capturing video and editing, it's very satisfying when you edit a string of footage together, so I'm working hard to expand my YouTube Channel. One of my video's that I'm planning is a Q&A, so you have any questions for me, feel free to leave them in the comments.
So, I am feeling motivated and excited but today I'm feeling pretty miserable - throwing my back out was definitely not a highlight of the weekend!
Don't forget to leave me your questions.
