Getting Your Family Garden Ready For Spring
Is it just me, or does it feel like despite the chill in the air, Spring is not too far off? The sun keep poking it's rays through the clouds and every time it does I get a little bit more excited for one of my personal favorite times of the year - Spring!
There's something about Spring arriving after a cold winter, that quite literally brings everything and everyone to life, including the beautiful and colourful flowers that start popping up everywhere!
One of the great things about Spring is that you can get back out into the garden and nothing makes me happier than watching my boys have fun in the back garden together! And so today I thought I'd share some things you can do to help get your garden ready in time for Spring!
Give everything a good clean Every year in Spring we give everything in our own garden a really good clean. Our decking and patio always need a pressure wash as moss has started to settle on them and then it's also nice to clean down the boys' things such as their slide and play house and any outdoor toys that they like to play with.
Sort out the flowersOne of the great things about having some outdoor space is being able to decorate it with beautiful bright flowers, be it artificial flowers or real ones. If you have real flowers, it's a great time to prepare flower beds or pots and plant some flowers or seeds and if you opt for artificial flowers it's worth seeing what has made it through the winter and what may need replacing.
Decorate a seating area It doesn't matter how big or small your garden space is, it can make a huge difference adding in a little seating area and decorating it with a few outdoor-safe bits and bobs. Adding garden lights can make a HUGE difference to how your garden looks and feels and garden lights always look super cosy in the evening when the sun goes down and they turn on. I absolutely love ours and think they make such a difference considering they're not too expensive either. I recommend solar lights for ease!
Declutter your shed If your shed has become cluttered over the winter period and you've been guilty of just throwing things in there, now is a great time to have a declutter and find new homes for things that maybe you don't need anymore such as old tools or outdoor toys that maybe your children have outgrown.
Ensure the garden is safe and ready for for your childrenWhen making your garden as safe as possible for children, things to look for are anything that could be unsafe for children such as jagged bricks or rocks, or anything they could trip over. If you have cats make sure that there aren't any of the cat's 'toilets' in the garden where your children might play or step.
Spring is one of the most beautiful times of the year, so do try to get outdoors for at least 15 minutes a day to make the most of it!
