Ghalib's - Sigh Needs(आह को चाहिए)
आह को चाहिए एक उम्र असर होने तक, कौन जीता है तेरी ज़ुल्फ़ के सर होने तक।
Sigh would need a lifetime to take effect,
Who would live till your untangling of hair came to rest.
दाम हर मौज में है हल्का-ए-सद काम-ए-नाहंग, देखें क्या गुज़रे है कतरे पे गौहर होने तक।
Every wave is entrapped by open mouth crocodiles,
Let's see what happen,till it becomes a pearl to a water droplet.
आशिक़ी सब्र तलब और तमन्ना बेताब, दिल का क्या रंग करूँ खूने-जिगर होने तक।
Love needs patience and desires are desperate,
What color I should give,before red to my heart(before red to my heart means before getting death).
हम ने माना के तघाफुल न करोगे लेकिन,
ख़ाक हो जाएंगे हम तुमको ख़बर होने तक।
I consider you won't neglect but,
I will get passed away until this news you will get.
पर्तव-ए-ख़ुर से है शबनम को फ़ना की तालीम,
मैं भी हूँ एक इनायत की नज़र होने तक।
A dew learnt to get perished from sun's rays,
I am there until that look of grace I would get.
य़क नज़र बेश नहीं न फुर्सत-ए-हस्ती ग़ाफ़िल,
गर्मी-ए-बज़्म है इक रक्ष-ए-शरर होने तक।
No time for an attentive look,nor for ignoring,
Gathering is assembled until with a dance of fire they will met.
ग़म-ए-हस्ती का 'असद' किस से हो जुज़ मर्ग इलाज,
शम्मा हर रंग में जलती है सहर होने तक।
With what to cure life's misery other than death,O! 'Asad',
Flame burns in every color until morning it get.
