…Go Wild

The past few days have been rough for environmentalists and those concerned about the future of our one and only planet, Earth. With talk of gag orders on government agencies, and reported requests to remove climate data from public sites, it’s certainly easy to see why some are more than a little concerned.

There have been actions taken by the new administration that at best, seem misguided and mismanaged, and at worst, completely nefarious.

While a lot is uncertain at this point, one thing is incredibly clear—the National Park Service is pretty awesome.

Which shouldn’t come as a surprise. Charged with protecting our country’s many national parks and historic sites, the NPS clearly takes their jobs seriously, or at least their social media teams do.

During the last few days, in the midst of the confusion, multiple parks have tested the social media waters of the new administration with tweets containing facts on climate change. Sadly, these were deleted, but replaced with some rogue accounts and more “subtle” tweets like the ones below.

So to all those out there who are worried, stay vigilant, keep questioning, keep raising your concerns and keep paying attention. But take comfort in the fact that there are others out there fighting the good fight for our nation’s most valuable natural treasures.
