Good Girls Get Tattoos Too.

Posted on the 11 June 2013 by Catherinelouisee @_itsaboutmee
I had a new tattoo last Tuesday. I am sure you can guess that my mom is really proud of me (or not) and is thrilled, but I absolutely adore it. I previously had a rose tattooed on my right hip but on Tuesday I had some script on my left thigh. I don't know if you have heard of it, although many have, but I have had the last verse of the poem 'Footprints in the Sand' tattooed on my thigh. It is absolutely beautiful, and I am so happy with how it has turned out. Although I understand that tattoos are not for everyone, and not everyone agrees with them, I don't see that, as long as I can cover it up, it makes me a bad person. Clearly, I wouldn't go into an interview with my tattoo on show, however I don't think that people have got the right to judge, purely because I have had a tattoo on my thigh. I put a great deal of thought into the tattoo before I had it done, I had discussed it with my mom years before, so it wasn't something that I rushed into doing. I chose the placement so I can cover it up when I want to, and the poem itself is my favourite, a poem that has lots of meaning. I say this, however you are entitled to your own opinion on body art and I am more than aware that lots of people completely disagree and I do understand that people will judge me for my tattoos. (Hi Mum)
For those of you who don't know, this is the poem.
Footprints in the SandOne night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging to him, the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it.
"Lord, You said that once I decided to follow You, You'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed You most You would leave me."
The Lord replied, "My son, My precious child, I love you and would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."
