Here are today’s two grammar tips:
- The derogatory term for a public relations person is flack, which supposedly memorializes Gene Flack, a well-known publicist in the 1930s. If you take a lot of criticism, you are on the receiving end of flak, an acronym for the German word fliegerabwehrkanone, or antiaircraft gun. (The literal translation is aircraft defense cannon.)
- The past tense of forbid is forbade. If you have trouble with irregular verbs, make a bookmark for the Irregular Verb Dictionary.
