Grammar Friday

  • On my first job out of college, I was responsible for a small publication, and I mislabeled the copy at the front of the book as a “Forward.” In fact, it was a “Foreword,” which is a preface or introductory note. Now, go forward, and avoid making such an embarrassing mistake.
  • The word “everyday” is an adjective and means “normal” or “not out of the ordinary.” In any other usage, “every day” becomes two words. So, an everyday event occurs every day.
