Grammar Friday

Grammar FridayHere are today’s two grammar tips:

  • Items on a list must be a matching set. This would be wrong: At the grocery store, I bought apples, pears, oranges, and packed them in a box. This would be correct: At the grocery store, I bought apples, pears and oranges, and I packed them in a box.
  • Make sure you place the word “only” in the right spot in your sentence. If you say, “The two people only went to the store,” it means they didn’t enter, and they didn’t buy anything; they only went there. If you say, “The two people went only to the store,” it means they didn’t go to the park or the office but only to the store.
