Greeting Card DIY With Birgit

I love DIY. I believe it helps me grow my soul. There's something else that touches my soul and that is people who give, without expecting anything in return. I am privileged that so many of them touch my life.

One of them is the very generous, warmhearted, talented and artistic Birgit Bedesky. I am honored that she is here to share my space today with a beautiful guest post. Do visit her blog at BB Creations.

Please join me in welcoming Birgit with a greeting card DIY!

We met during the April A to Z Challenge last year when she wrote an absolutely delightful series about actors. While it is a fact that Birgit has a wonderful way with words - the perfect combination of subtle humor mixed with charming expression, what squeezes my heart is this: She has been visiting my blog regularly since we connected. Never misses commenting on a post. If she's busy, she catches up in one big marathon commenting spree. And I love it when I wake up, log in to my email and find a big bunch of comments from her. Intelligent, thoughtful comments that add value to my post.

What can I say? I love Birgit and her generosity!

Besides being an engaging writer, Birgit makes fabulous greeting cards. I pray that she writes that book soon!

Over to you Birgit! I welcome you with a hug, steaming coffee, cookies and cake at your side!

Greeting Card DIY with Birgit

A little about me - believe it or not I am a natural blonde....with a few greys now. I am half a century old and grew up in the sticks and loved every moment of it. My parents owned a sawmill so I guess I am a true Canuck! I still love the smell of sawdust. I enjoy the 4 seasons-not the group the actual seasons and right now it is a balmy -13C but with the windchill it is more like -30:) I have worked for the past 23 1/2 years as a Credit Counselor and enjoy my job...no I really do. I love to read, I love learning about different cultures, I love film and I love to create cards. Vidya has been gracious enough to host me here and I was deeply touched by this offer. So without further adieu (or is that ado??) here is the making of a card.

The first picture showcases almost all the things I used to create the card. The stamps, Black dye pad, Purple Dye Pad and embossing powders in magenta green, Red Tinsel and Psychedelic glitter.

I stamped the hummingbird in purple and added the powders and embossed the image with my heating tool.

Next I stamped the pansy frame stamp in basic black and coloured it in with my gamsol pencil crayons and shaded them.

I stamped the card twice and coloured the flowers twice so that I could then fussy-cut the flowers.

I took a nice light green shimmer paper and cut it to size and placed it into the embossibilities folder and put it through the Sizzex machine to get the pattern.

I cut the frame out and, using double sided tape, I placed it on the light green embossed paper.

I then, swore and stomped my feet because I placed it upside down! Calming down and letting my lumberjack mouth go silent I took it apart carefully and repositioned it the correct way.

I took my glue pen and, wherever the white showed through I placed white glitter around. I coloured the sticker border in blue and placed it around the frame.

Now that I have the hummingbird inside the frame and the pansy frame in the right place and it is all glittered up, I placed pop-up dots on the cut out flowers and placed them on top of the flowers that matched.

Voila! The finished card for a lady friend's birthday!

Hope you enjoyed seeing how this was done and hope it looks OK. Thanks again Vidya for hosting me here. Keep on smiling:)

Thank you Birgit! It looks more than A-Okay to me! Dear friends, did you enjoy the greeting card DIY with Birgit? Let us know in the comments!
