{Guest Post} Cars Bedroom Design

Posted on the 09 February 2013 by Meltingmoments

Recently one of my wonderful friends showed me some photos of her son’s new room, a Cars theme that any little boy would love. While admiring her amazing talent and creativity, I felt compelled to show off her creations. She agreed to put together a short run down of how she went about putting it all together. B2 would go crazy for this bedroom.

Thank you Kristen for sharing your wonderful creations with us.

Re-decorating Mr CJ’s room

After taking the sides off CJ’s cot and making it into a toddler bed I thought it would be nice for him to have a new theme in his room. The previous decorations were a jungle theme with canvases on the walls, a rug on the floor, and an animal mobile hanging from the light.

Being an almost two-year-old boy, he is crazy about cars so that was the theme I went with. Not wanting to spend a lot of money, I found a Cars single sheet set on sale at Target and based the theme around that. I also found a car-shaped pillow on sale at Kmart to add just that bit more to the bed.

I decided to do some canvases myself so I bought four plain canvases and painted them black, blue, red and green. On the green one I painted a black roadway in the shape of a “C” for Caton. I decorated them by using the hot glue gun to glue some toy cars onto three of them and using cars stickers on the forth one.

I also found a canvas with a Cars print that matched the sheets, so I painted that one to go over his bed.

I was able to make a new mobile using 2 skewers, some string and four cars from CJ’s very large collection. I picked ones that are broken or ones he has several of so they wouldn’t be missed. Although he does recognise them but I think that helps with making him familiar with his new room. I used a race track rug we already had for the floor and some car-themed wall stickers I already had for the door, wall, and along the edge of the change table/drawers.

Altogether, I spent less than $40 to give my little guy’s room a fun new look which he loves!! It also allowed me to be creative and have some fun afternoons putting it all together.

I’m a stay at home mum who enjoys creating things for my almost 2 year old boy. I hope you enjoy them too. You can find me on Facebook at Mumma K.

Kristen

Are you as in love with this room as I am? What a lucky boy CJ is to have such a creative mummy.

I would love to give B1 and B2′s bedroom a makeover. Although, as I am not sure how much longer we will be living here, I think I will hold off before doing a big change. I can’t wait until they have their own rooms and I can do a real boy’s theme for B2 and a magical girl’s theme for B1.

Kristen, I may just come to you for decorating tips :-)
