Week 2 Training Plan

Last week I put together an 18 week half-marathon training plan. It is officially week two, so this is what we got:

Weekend Recap

This past weekend was a whirlwind of baking for the shop. Aerial, the Cupcakery owner, donated cupcakes for competitors in The Duel, which is a two days filled with half marathons, an ultra, and Boston Qualifying Marathon’s.

The best part about donating the cupcakes was making the encouraging cupcake signs for runners to see as they neared the end of their races!

Eron and I also went to a movie! This is so rare, but it did in fact happen. We went to see Zero Dark Thirty with my Brother and Sister-in-law. The movie is a re-creation of the hunt for terrorist, Osama bin Laden. At first I was a little leery about seeing this movie. I get pretty extremely emotional when it comes to tragic events in history, and without fail the opening scene had me crying. At that point I was already planning a bathroom break if I needed an escape.

Contrary to escape plans, I was glued to my seat after the first tearful scene. The way the movie portrayed the events leading up to OBL’s capture, had me captivated and wide eyed. After the movie was over, I asked Eron how closely the movie followed the book, No Easy Day, by Mark Owen. The author, Mark Owen, is a former Navy Seal who was apart of the raid, and gave his first hand account of what happened. Eron told me it was pretty close to what was written in the book.

Before seeing this movie, I had no idea what was going to be incorporated. Apparently there is a lot of controversy with the torture scenes at the beginning. These were not pleasant, and had me cringing. I can see where people might not agree with these scenes in the movie but personally, I was not offended.  Whether I agree with the methods or not, watching this movie reminded me that there is a very real battle of good and evil. I took it as a factual account of what really happened, and felt that showing accurate portrayals keeps us informed and realistic.

Although bad things do happen, my hope is in Jesus Christ, so the biggest comfort I have is knowing the battle has already been won. Since trusting Christ, I have started to realize that it is even more important exercise for spiritual strength, than working out for my physical shape. The state of your relationship with Jesus is what will protect you from the awful worldly things around us.

Nautical Baby Shower

On a lighter note,we celebrated my friend Whitney’s pregnancy with a nautical themed baby shower! This was one of the best baby showers I have been to! It was hosted at her home, so we could see the cute nursery she decorated, and we played the funniest baby shower games ever!

Instead of me drowning on about the shower, here is a PicMonkey Collage:

I won the best clay molded baby in 60 seconds!

That wraps up the weekend, so now it is back to homework!

What did you do this weekend?
