Halloween: a Butterfly and Her Lepidopterist

Posted on the 02 November 2011 by Forevermelody
I love Halloween! I start planning months in advance. A while ago I found this incredible sequin 60s silk shirt in the shape and pattern of a butterfly at Thrift Town for about $5. Luke and I rarely do couple costumes, mostly because he veto's all my great ideas. This year I finally pitched something that stuck.
We got him a vintage pith helmet and a khaki safari shirt and a butterfly net - viola, a lepidopterist, or someone who studies and collects butterflies and moths. Easy, thrifty, creative - if i do say so myself.

We hosted a party at our house, first Halloween in our very own house. I was hoping for trick or treaters so we set up in the driveway with lights, chairs and a table for drinks. I put the perishable food and things that needed plates inside. Lots of wonderful friends came and we sipped hot apple cider and made caramel apples. Great friends, great conversation... about 7 trick or treaters.
Happy Halloween!
