HALO SleepSack & Safe Swaddling
disclosure: i received an additional SleepSack Swaddle in exchange for highlighting this business. all opinions are my own.
I first heard about HALO SleepSack on another blog. The more and more I researched items that were recommended to register for, the more HALO SleepSack kept popping up. The company was started by a dad who lost his first child to SIDS. Their goal is to create ways for all babies to sleep safely.
I wrote an initial post all about the HALO SleepSack before Rilynn was born & also shared HALO's Safer Way To Sleep Initiative.
Since having Rilynn, we definitely fell in love with our HALO SleepSack. I love that the fabric is incredibly soft & also that she never overheated while wearing it. My mom was worried that she would be too hot in pajamas and the SleepSack, but that wasn't the case. The first night we tried the SleepSack she slept for 5 hours straight - up from her usual 3. Rilynn constantly broke out of swaddling blankets, but she stayed snuggly wrapped in this. It is so easy to use. You just zip your little one up in the sack and then use the velcro flaps to swaddle their arms next to their sides. You also have the option of swaddling them with their arms outside the flaps.

One big thing that the SleepSack helps parents out with, is practicing Safe Swaddling techniques. When I came home from the hospital I had no idea that you could swaddle a baby the wrong way. The SleepSack is considered "Hip Healthy", since a major no-no can be swaddling your baby's hips too tightly. Doing this can lead to serious problems, such as hip dysplasia. I loved that using this helped take the worry and analyzing out of swaddling Rilynn at night.
HALO SleepSack & Safe SwaddlingMajor benefits from swaddling can range from soothing your fussy baby to helping them sleep longer. It also can keep their hands and sharp nails away from their face, preventing nasty scratches. Just be sure that your swaddled baby is always placed on their back to sleep and that the swaddle is snug so no extra fabric could cover their face or mouth.
I would love the chance to give one of you a SleepSack Swaddle! Just check out HALO on Facebook, Twitter & Pinterest. For every form of social media you follow them on, leave a separate comment saying you did so and your username. I will pick a winner next Wednesday! Open to all US residents.
