Handy hacks for your UK summer break 2023

With plenty of summer holiday destinations to choose from, it can be a hard decision to make. This article will tell you our top tips for the best summer holidays UK! Hopefully this will make those all-important decisions a little easier.

From what to pack and the best BBQ recipes, to how to pick the best activities – here is everything you need to know for your next getaway!

Research

When choosing a holiday destination, it’s important to do your research on where you want to go. As there is so much choice out there, you want to make sure your holiday will suit everyone on your trip, equally.

Having the internet at your fingertips is a lifesaver when booking a holiday! Research online and discover the different options. By doing this you can narrow down your destination and come to an informed choice!

Once you have found the location for you, see what there is to do in the area.

Pre-booking

Once you have sussed out what there is to do, it’s quite important to get some things booked in the diary. Usually, you have to just fill out a form online to book activities or restaurant reservations – so it’s never been easier!

Especially if you have children and are wanting to book sports activities like surfing lessons, or water sports, it’s best to book these in advance so you know it’s all sorted before arriving, and can schedule your time accordingly, to avoid disappointment.

Pack for all weather

We all know the English weather can be temperamental at times. Just because it’s summertime it doesn’t mean you’re safe from a rain shower, or conversely, just because it’s due to rain, do bring some summer clothes, just in case.

Over the past few years, British summertime has seen excellent weather, with plenty of sunshine, so don’t forget your suncream! If you are going on a walking holiday, be sure to bring your hiking boots, as some of the coastal walks can get intense! It’s better to be prepared than under prepared.

Take time to relax!

Although this may seem like a given, it’s really important to take some time out of your busy schedule to have some real chill-out time. Holidays can be hectic, especially if you have young ones to please. In the evenings make sure to sit back, relax and take time for yourself.

Getaways should be a mix of fun and entertainment, alongside relaxation – so be sure to bring a book, or some magazines to really enjoy the down-time you deserve.

Immerse yourself in history

When you’re away, sometimes it’s easy to forget about the historical side of your destination. If you have the time, it’s worth visiting local museums, or getting involved in walking tours of the area. These will help you get to know the area and when you get home, you’ll be full of extra knowledge!
