Hi guys! I’m sorry I’ve been post-less but my birthday and the 4th were just so packed with things to do that I didn’t have a spare minute to sit down and post. Lame, I know.
Thank you guys, so much for all your kind wishes on my birthday. It was so fun to get wordpress notifications all day saying happy birthday from all of you. Definitely made my day so much more special.
I have a BUNCH of pictures of EVERYTHING from the last two days but before we do that…
Breakfast
I made 3 strips of bacon. Then I fried 2 eggs in the bacon grease.
I had a gala apple too… you know, for health.
My Birthday!!!
We started with a family breakfast! My mom always makes a big group breakfast on birthdays. We had grapes, my favorite gluten free Udi’s blueberry muffins, cherries, & bacon.
My muffin had a candle in it.
Kind of love that.
Then I opened 2 presents. In the first was an orange immersion blender! I’ve wanted one forever. Then the second was…
clown glasses! But not really. My Mom, Grandma, and I were heading up to San Jose for a doctors appointment then we were planning on having lunch in the mall at the Cheesecake Factory. The glasses symbolized that I was getting real ray-ban sunglasses, whichever ones I wanted!!!
YAY Shopping!
We got ready and hit the road. It takes an hour to get from Salinas to San Jose. I took some green tea.
Waiting in the waiting room…
Then it was time for lunch!
My Mom and I both decided to order off the SkinnyLicious Menu. We both ordered 2 mini plates and swapped bites so we got to try everything.
Mom had the beet, apple and goat cheese salad and the mini crab cakes. I had the mushroom lettuce wraps and the roasted artichoke.
We both liked the mushroom lettuce wraps the best.
But… I truly only had to have 1 little thing on my bday.
And NO! It was not a lettuce wrap.
CHEESECAKE!
The lemon raspberry cheesecake!
I LOVE cheesecake. But I’ve always saved it as a special occasion treat (like only on my bday special occasion). Now that I can’t eat dairy I never have it. But, I splurged today.
It was worth it.
After lunch we did some shopping.
When buying sunglasses I was down to 2 styles.
Did I want to be Tom Cruise from Top Gun or Tom Cruise from Risky Business?
Here’s what I chose…
Risky Business!
Shopping took forever! We also hit up Macys for a new outfit from my grandma. We didn’t get headed home until almost 4pm. I took a major nap that lasted all the way home.
We got home, hit the showers and got gussied up for Dinner.
We had a big family dinner at Gino’s, a local classy Italian restaurant.
I’m normally not about the bread basket, at all. But they have this whipped herby butter there. Ohhhh. So. Good.
Bruschetta appetizers. Simple toasted french bread drizzled in evoo and topped with basil, tomato and garlic. If I wouldn’t feel totally weird I would definitely order this as an entrée.
But I decided to celebrate my birthday with the blackened chicken caesar salad.
Look how fancy.
