Ring out the old, ring in the new,Ring, happy bells, across the snow:The year is going, let him go;Ring out the false, ring in the true.
Alfred Lord Tennyson, “Ring Out, Wild Bells”
Good morning! Happy New Year!
This morning (or this afternoon for those of us nursing a hangover) is a good time to start a New Year’s Day tradition. Maybe you could:
- Take a shower. Wash away any of the residual negativity from 2011. Light candles, use essential oils and make a ritual out of it.
- Pick a song that represents your goals and wishes for 2012 and play it LOUDLY. I recommend “Shake It Out” by Florence and the Machine because it’s hard to dance with a devil on your back…
- Take a walk and see if the world looks any different this morning
- Stretch, meditate, play… if you do nothing else this year, do these 3 things
- Eat something healthy… there’s got to be a carrot stick at the back of the fridge, right? Or just make a Ceasar and call it even
- Drink peach mimosas with a fancy brunch of cupcakes and eggs benedict
- Buy flowers in your favourite color
- Go back to bed. Read a book under the covers
