Rumpelstiltskin during happier times
For years my kids nagged me for a pet. And I never wavered! I always told them: ‘No.’ I just didn’t want the hassle of a pet. Not after fínally having managed to raise my kids to the level I could safely take my eyes off of them without them getting into trouble.
But then we moved to the country, and somehow we ended up with two cats. And to my utter surprise I totally fell in love with them. The kids named them Harry and Rumpelstiltskin, and I especially loved it when Rumpelstilskin deemed my lap worthy to take a nap on. It was also a great way to get myself to take a break. Because I didn’t want to disturb Rumpelstiltskin, I had to just sit there asking the kids: ‘Will you please pour mommy another cup of tea? And add a piece of chocolate, while you’re at it.’
But last Thursday when we woke up and had breakfast, only Harry was there to greet us. Rumpelstiltskin never showed up. At first I figured he was still on the prowl somewhere, but as the day progressed I started worrying. On Friday I went out to look for him, shouting his name, and now it’s Sunday, and still no Rumpelstiltskin. Luckily we still have Harry, but I miss Rumpelstiltskin.
I hope he’s alright!
Maybe he’s spinning gold somewhere?
Rumpelstiltskin, if you read this: please come home?! I really miss you, and if you come back I promise I’ll stop buying the cheap cat food, and get you the good stuff!
