Hawaii Here We Come

After months of planning and talking, I’m happy to finally be able to let you all know (now that everything is booked) that we will be headed to Hawaii this May.

Words cannot express how excited I am.  AHAHAH!!!

But before I get too far into the details, let me explain how we got here.  Before we got married, Mr. A and I agreed that we wanted to do one more big vacation before we started our family.  We kicked around the idea of going to England or Ireland but we were both aching for something a little more exotic.  We had just gotten back from our Caribbean Cruise and I was dying to get back to the beach. Then all of a sudden I thought of Hawaii.  Gorgeous beaches.  Amazing sunsets.  Friendly people. What’s not to like?

So I decided to bring up Hawaii with the hubby and he was in before I could finish saying Aloha.  I also knew that my parents had been dreaming about going to Hawaii for ages, especially recently since Disney built a resort on Oahu (they are a part of the Disney Vacation Club).  Since we enjoy traveling with them so much, I asked Mr. A if he would be cool with them tagging along—vacations are always better when you can share them with people you love.  He happily obliged so I extended the offer to my parents and the rest is history.

As far as our itinerary goes, we’ll start by spending 7 days at this gorgeous oceanfront condo on Maui’s westside.  We will be able to snorkel with sea turtles in our backyard.  How amazing is that?

Maui is rumored to be one of Hawaii’s most beautiful and interesting islands, with activities ranging from snorkeling in the ocean to hiking up an old volcano to watching waterfalls to visiting multicolor beaches (there’s even a black and a red one).  We are hoping to spend a lot of our time snorkeling in the cove outside our condo and exploring the greenery and beaches that surround the island.

After checking out Maui’s lush landscape, we will be headed over to Oahu for another 5 days, where we will stay in Disney’s Aulani Resort.

While we are in Oahu, we will be checking out Pearl Harbor, one of my parents’ top requests, as well as exploring Oahu’s natural wonders.  I’m hoping I can attempt to catch a wave on the North Shore!

We are still in the beginning stages of figuring out exactly what we want to see/do and where we want to eat (a top priority for the Mister) so I would love to get any tips/hints that you guys have.

If you’ve ever been to Oahu or Maui, any places you recommend seeing or eating at?

What was your favorite memory?

Anything about Hawaii that we should prepare ourselves for?

The countdown has officially begun—only 7 more months (I hope that’s enough time to plan!)
