Headed To Chee-Cago!

Posted on the 23 July 2013 by Mikidemann @mikidemann
Here it goes. I am going to Chicago! Hooray! I have never been before and I'm pretty excited to make the 3 hour plane-trek! I'm going for work, but I have a few hours to myself during the 4 days I am there. Any advice on what to do and see? Keep in mind, I am a first timer!

As I mentioned, I am going to Chicago for work. We're having our annual "Unconventional" at the Swissotel. Which is where I'll be staying. Yes, that is a 4-star hotel and that really excites me! Since I am going for business not pleasure I have a few questions and concerns. I don't travel for work often. I am only going for 4 days.. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I am trying to pack my clothes in a carry on to make things easier. I'm traveling with 3 of my co-workers and it would be nice to be able to get off the plane and go straight to our first hotel.  I think I can make this whole carry-on dream of mine happen. It does worry me though. I am a worrier. I always imagine these horrible things like I'll be getting on the plane and try to pick my suitcase above my head and I hit an old women in the back of the head with it because it's too heavy for me. She passes out and then a flight attendant screams for a doctor and there isn't one. Then everyone on the plane glares at me because I delayed the flight an hour. Mean while I'm just worried that I killed an elderly women.
Outside of my irrational fears I need to decide what to bring. Since it's a work outing I do have shirts provided for me during the regular "working" hours. Which means I pretty much need 2 outfits a day. A "work day" outfits and a night time outfit. We do have some dress requirements for some night time events, so I'll need some heels and specific attire for those nights. I need to pack practical, but I also want to look cute for the work days. We have staff shirts to wear and we can dress them up with accessories. They're ladies fitted tee's. I need help dressing them up. Should I just bring some cute jewelry? Maybe a cardigan or scarf? I get pretty cold if it's below 70 indoors. Shoes is the biggest struggle for me. I want to bring like 11 pairs. I probably only need 3 max. I cant decide which to bring. How do you pack and make sure you get all the essential clothing items?

I'm not sure.
I am sharing a room with a co-worker so I also plan to be over prepared for my own comfort, since I can't control how she sleeps. I am bringing ear plugs and my noise proof ear phones... just in case. Not saying she's a loud sleeper, but it is totally possible! Also I am going to need something to relax after a long day. Last year, I pretty much just zonked as soon as I hit the bed. We're pretty much go-go-go for 12 hours a day during these conventions so I bet I'll be tired. However, I'm also an insomniac and don't sleep well. Once I get to sleep I am fine, but getting to sleep is extremely tough for me. I'm bringing my iPad and laptop. I am thinking I'll load some movies on there and I have netflix too. I doubt I'll have time to watch movies, but it'll be nice to have if I can't sleep and don't want to turn on the TV and wake the sleeping co-worker. I am sure I'll sleep like a charm, but maybe I should bring an eye mask just in case. Also I have an addiction to sleeping with my heating pad... I seriously might pack that. Is that weird? Heating pad at night makes you feel like you wrapped in your lover's arms. I love being wrapped in my man's arms.
Here's what I need help withHow do I dress up work tee's so I still look cute? What are the ESSENTIAL must haves since I am only bringing a carry on?Any must see/do's in Chicago? What should I bring to RELAX at the end of a long work day?
