The afternoons are looking a little more golden these days and the leaves have lost their vibrancy. Everything’s beginning to fade in the most beautiful way, like a Bouguereau painting:

It’s also Lughnasadh, the first of three harvest festivals celebrated by the Ancient Celts and, more recently, today’s Witchy People. The time has come to appreciate the last full month of summer and look ahead to autumn.

Bake scones and harvest your rosemary.

Buy berries from a roadside stand and head to the beach.

Watch “Wet Hot American Summer” for the 87th time.

Sleep in the sunshine.

Cook s’mores over a bonfire, preferably one made from the t-shirts and bad juju of ex-lovers.

Plan your autumn road trip.

Listen to Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car” on repeat. It’s the best.

Enjoy sunflowers.

Drink tequila.

Whatever you want.

It’s the only August 2013 you’ll ever get.

 Enjoy it.
