It’s finally September. I love the fall. If you’re going back to school, my heart aches for you. School sucks but learning is THE BEST. If you’re pretending to be an adult (like the rest of us) congrats on surviving your formal education. If not, keep your beautiful head up, there’s so much to look forward to…

September Celebrations and Birthdays:

Salma Hayek (Sept. 2nd)

Suggested activity: watch “Frida” and marvel at Salma’s acting chops and tiny waist.

Freddie Mercury (Sept. 5th)

Suggested activity: “Under Pressure” at FULL VOLUME. Dance. Naked?

Elizabeth I (Sept. 7th)

Suggested activity: order people around? Dye your hair red? Read Shakespeare? Watch the Cate Blanchett movie?

Michelle Williams (Sept. 9th)

Suggested activity: honor her roots with a couple episodes of “Dawson’s Creek.” A few of my favourites:

Escape from Witch Island (S.3 E.7) is a parody of the “Blair Witch Project”… watchable on the Youtube

The Scare (S.1 E.11) is a Friday the 13th themed episode… also watchable on the Youtube

Elvira (Sept. 17th)

Suggested activity: gaze upon photos of this bodacious babe and plan for Halloween.

Full Harvest Moon! (Sept. 19th)

Suggested activity: head to a corn field and look up at the stars. This moon is sometimes called the Wine Moon… you know what to do.

Both Stephen King AND Leonard Cohen (Sept. 21st)

Suggested activity: listen to Chelsea Hotel #2 and re-read “Carrie” before the latest movie comes out in October.

Autumn Equinox (Sept. 22nd)

Suggested Activity: take a cue from modern Witches and Ancient Greeks and celebrate various harvest deities by consuming vast amounts of wine, pumpkin spice lattes and apple pie. Pay respect to Persephone who heads back to the underworld at this time of year.

Shel Silverstein AND William Faulkner (Sept. 25th)

Suggested activity: a few chapters of “As I Lay Dying” and then read this poem as a palate cleanser:

Happy September!
