I can't tell you how happy I feel when the weather starts to warm up here in England this time of year. I've always been a summer-loving person - I just can't stand the bitter cold, which always feels worse because I have bad blood circulation and have a condition called Raynaud's which means when I'm cold my fingers and toes slowly start to turn yellow one by one! It's not nice and has always meant that I've hated the cold even more than most.
So when the winter weather starts to ease up and the sun starts to make an appearance it's one of my most favorite times of the year. I don't think there's much better than seeing all the flowers start to bloom again. The blossom, the blue skies, the birds singing, the fluffy clouds, the daffodils, feeling the warm sun on your face and the way the sunlight pokes through the trees - it's these first signs of Spring and warmer weather that for me, spark so much joy. It really is the simple things.
I'm really looking forward to spending more time outside and going for family walks at the weekend. (Yay for the end of desperately trying to think up ideas for not too expensive places to take the kids at the weekend when it's cold and raining outside!). We've been for a couple of Spring walks already and I forgot just how happy being outside makes me feel both mentally and physically.
At the weekend we did our annual garden clean, which basically involves getting out in the back garden and pressure washing everything. It's crazy how dirty everything seems to get over the winter and it's super satisfying to jet wash everything back to it's former clean self.
I don't know if it's just me, but March and April always make me feel like the year is really beginning. I know that the year technically starts in January, but there's something about Spring, and not just the flowers blossoming again, that seems to bring about a feeling of new beginnings!
