Did you know all children are born with the attributes needed to become a successful scientist? Being inquisitive drives future scientists to experiment with new things and seek answers to a multitude of queries. Young children pick up everything they hear and see, using their curiosity to fuel their endeavours. But what do you do if your child begins to show no interest in this? There are plenty of techniques and tasks to incorporate into your child’s life to help them find this passion. Here is some advice from this senior school in Buckinghamshire on helping your child find a love of science from a young age.

Enrol them onto science camp

On top of other practices that allow your child to get a hands-on learning experience, science camp is great at bringing together hundreds of likeminded people that have a love for science. Being in environments like this can help influence your child positively and show them the excitement that science holds. If learning is what your child dislikes, science camp can change that. Exploring together amongst other children will take learning from a chore to something that is enjoyable.

Allow them the space to explore

Many parents do not warm up to this idea, as the thought of mess being produced just doesn’t appeal to them. However, if you want your child to develop a love for science, you need to provide them with the space to explore their curiosity. Afterall, that is exactly what science is about. If possible, let them take part in messy play outdoors, where they can explore with water and different elements. Science kits are also great as they contain fun and exciting activities to complete.

Help them keep up with discoveries

If your child shows interest in a certain topic, watch documentaries together on the latest scientific discoveries to keep their love and interest thriving. This can also be a great way to bond with your child over their interests.
