Hi guys! How’s your Tuesday starting out?
Last night I could not even bribe myself to complete my laundry.
UUGGG! It was just daunting me all evening.
I had a total of 3 loads: Colors, Workout Wear, and Whites… this is the workout wear and let’s just say that it’s the biggest blessing EVER that it’s actually folded.
Breakfast
This morning I whipped up some Mapley- blueberry oats with almond butter and chia seeds. I packed an apple for a snack at the office and pursed my first serving of green tea with stevia. I had to finish my hot magic lemon water first.
The only way to get the benefits of drinking hot magic lemon water is to drink it first thing in the morning, before eating or drinking anything else. So I made my oatmeal, green tea, and apple to-go.
To make these oats you:
- boil 1 cup hot water, 1/2 cup old fashioned oats, 1 scant tsp molasses and 1/4 tsp salt
- add in 2 tsp chia seeds
- let simmer until all water is absorbed
- Top fully cooked and bowled oats with a heaping handful blueberries and 1 spoonful almond butter
They were tasty but definitely a little bland. Maybe next time I need to add some stevia or a little more salt to pop the flavors?
This oatmeal is about 350 calories. And the apple is 60.
How to get all those Healthy Guidelines
I have a few healthy guidelines I try and follow every day. Some are pretty basic like switch up simple carbs for complex ones, eat lots and lots of veggies, and stay away from simple sugars!
But some of them are a little more precise.
- eat 2 servings of fruit a day
- eat 2 servings of healthy fats a day
- eat 2 servings of probiotic (or probiotic foods) a day
- eat a serving of dark chocolate
- exercise
- drink 3 servings of green tea a day
- drink 8 8oz glasses of pure water a day (not including tea, coffee, juice, etc…)
When I started eating clean 3 weeks ago I had a really hard time remembering which ones I’d had and which ones I still needed and ultimately I didn’t get them all accomplished most days. That’s okay, sometimes. I don’t always get all my healthy fats or mugs of green tea. But I’d rather get them most of the time than only half the time.
I started using this really great app called Clear. It’s a really simple check list app that makes tracking my healthy guidelines easy as pie!
Here’s what I did. I added each serving as it’s own check list item. Then once I do it, I swipe it off the pink list and it goes onto the black list.
The best part is that at the end of the day I swipe all the completed black list items back onto the pink list. It’s super easy and works perfectly for something like this.
Tell me about you!!! I want to know…
