Homemade {mostly} butter tarts

I have made this recipe for eons. As you can see by the following instruction sheet that I dig out of my totally beat up recipe book on a fairly regular basis.

These are sweet, delicious and probably hugely fattening.

I usually make the pastry myself, one day I will post that recipe I promise.

I am not usually a cheater, but last night I was.

I used *gasp* pre-made tart shells.

They aren’t as good, but who the hell has time during the middle of the week to make pastry? Not me.

So we get the cheating version.

Here we go.

First off…this is my recipe. I have no idea if you will be able to decipher it, I just wanted you to see the reality of my kitchen skills. OCD? Not so much.

What you need and what you do:

Recipe

Seriously, it is lucky I still have it. It’s not even attached.

The inside will look like this when you mix it…

creamy center

And just so you know…I usually add 1 cup of raisins and it always takes longer than 8 minutes to cook them, I would say more like 12-14 minutes depending on your oven and I just leave it at 450°. As you can see at the end of the recipe it is unclear.

fresh tarts

And try not to eat too many. It’s not my fault if you do…

Happy baking.
