How to Be a Friend on Valentines Day

I was going back-and-forth on what to write for Valentines Day.
I didn't want to write a new version of what everyone else is writing about:
What to buy your mate to show him (or her) how much they are loved...
What to Wear...
And absolute favorite (insert sarcastic grimace here),
How to survive Valentines Day when you are single.
Truth be told, single or not, I have never felt alone on Valentines Day.  But I am sure this is not the case for everyone.
The older I got, the clearer it became that those that feel alone during Valentines Day are really lonely spirits.  But in a much, much deeper sense.
You see, having a significant other, a mate, a husband, a wife, a spouse, a boyfriend, will do very little to fill the void that makes anyone feel lonely.

I have learned that the only way you can fully enjoy Valentines Day is to understand the deeper meaning of being fulfilled: By becoming a friend to you.

Yes, you read that right: become your friend.

Honestly, it's probably one of the hardest exercises you will ever do!  But the work you do, the space you create, the self-appreciation, and your self-love will make you stronger.
When you enjoy your company and love yourself without the noise of "life" or anyone else, will you not feel empty, alone, and basically, lonely.

Here's to finding your best friend today, and appreciating him (or her) always.
Happy Valentines Day!
