Read to your child
Reading isn’t something that should only be confined to learning environments. Introducing reading into your child’s life is one of the easiest ways to spark their imaginative skills. For little ones, sit with them and flick through picture books together. Through your own descriptions and interactions, they will be able to develop language and vocabulary skills. Be sure to read to them daily as consistency is key. Stick to the genres they enjoy as this is what will help them enjoy the stories told and boost their imagination. Visit your local library if you need inspiration!
Play with your child
Unstructured play is one of the easiest ways to help a child work on their imagination. Playful games are great for developing your child’s creativity and the perfect chance to bond with them. With hectic family schedules, unstructured play is one of the easiest options to slot into the buzz of daily life. You can do this by playing I Spy with your child on a long car ride or making up stories where each person comes up with a new line. Keep the games engaging and allow creativity to lead the way.
Go outdoors
Exercise is a great way to calm the mind and body, but also a great way for your little one to discover new things. Take regular walks and hikes as a family in new locations to introduce different pockets of the world to them, and support the growth of their imagination.
