How To Enjoy Ladies Day From Home During Lockdown

Posted on the 12 June 2020 by Sparklesandstretchmarks @raine_fairy

With the nation still on lockdown due to Covid-19, this year will see Royal Ascot take place behind closed doors for the first time in it's 250 year history.
Usually Ascot Racecourse welcomes some 300,000 + guests to this annual event, but this year they are inviting enthusiasts to celebrate the day from home instead.
So how can you make the most of the day and join in the fun?
Get Your Sunday Best On!
Fashion plays a huge part in Royal Ascot and this year will be no different! Royal Ascot are asking people to post images of their outfits and hats on social media using the hashtag #StyledWithThanks following the rainbow theme which has become a symbol of thanks for the NHS during the pandemic, with participants encouraged to make a £5 donation alongside their entry.
Prizes will be given for the most Elegant, Original & Uplifting outfits across the week - so what are you waiting for?! Time to dig out your finest rainbow-themed togs and create a look to impress!
Watch & Bet Along Online
Of course it goes without saying that the main event of any Ascot At Home celebration will be watching and betting along with the races.
You can find some Royal Ascot 2020 Tips here to help you back some winners - and why not make it even more fun by hosting a Zoom party for family & friends to watch and bet along with you too?
With high street bookmakers currently closed, you'll need to take advantage of online betting if you fancy a flutter - so make sure to take advantage of some  Royal Ascot 2020 Free Bets
Theme The Party
You'll need plenty of Union Jack bunting of course, along with a nice traditional British Afternoon Tea.
In 2019 there were almost 250,000 afternoon teas served at Royal Ascot - so synonymous are they with the celebrations. So be sure to make up some cucumber finger sandwiches, fresh scones, clotted cream and strawberries - with some chilled champagne of course!
You might also have a go at coming up with cocktail creations named after famous race horses of the past, Red Rum anyone?!

Finish Off With Some Post -Race Entertainment
Once the main event is over, how about keeping the party going with an Ascot themed quiz?
Or perhaps you could host a Zoom make-along cocktail making competition?! If nothing else, you'll have loads of fun judging each others concoctions!

Get The Kids Involved
Of course, it's important not to forget the little ones - luckily the Royal Ascot website has some great childrens fun packs to download including colouring sheets, hats you can make at home and even ideas for having your own back garden races!
There are so many ways you can still enjoy Ascot from home, even though it may be a very different experience from previous years it's so important in these difficult times to keep some normality and make the best of things wherever we can. Have fun!
