I have always had great joy in meeting friends I only know from online or my teleclasses. I have never met someone and said, “Oh, that person was so horrid and online they are so fabulous!” Perhaps I know how to feel someone’s forehead from a distance to feel if our temperatures are compatible.
This Spring my dear friend and fellow poet Morgan Dragonwillow came to visit California and I was blessed to share the day with her. I had put together quite the itinerary. I laughed when the day was over how we didn’t get very far into the itinerary but on the other hand, we got very deep into the spot we visited. We also shared creative time, separately together, as we explored the delightful riverbanks from my favorite nearby river, the Mighty Kern.
Without any discussion of what we were “to do” we simply fell into a delicious rhythm of silence and language, images and flow, descriptions and metaphor.
There are certain ways I subconsciously investigate – perhaps that sounds to clinical – whether or not I will be compatible with someone on the long term.
Sometimes a friend is a poem.
Morgan showed me herself as a poem over and over on the day we spent together.
Enchantment is creatively experiencing a beloved place with a poetic friend.
My hope is you have a day like this one very soon.
