How to Make Your Own Version of the Salted Egg Rice (topped with Chopped Chicken Nuggets)

Posted on the 03 August 2019 by Michael David Oyco @MDoyco
I'll be sharing with you guys a current practice of mine which regularly happens especially during breakfast and sometimes lunch (when possible). I commonly do it when our main dish here in our house will complement the taste of the egg OR there are already hard-boiled eggs ready on the table (lol). I am not a food expert or anything and I just suddenly thought of doing it since the salted egg flavor is becoming popular here in our area recently.. So I thought why not do it literally..

Salted egg rice topped with chicken nuggets

This dish is so easy to make as most of the ingredients are already cooked. And that actually is one of the best parts of it. They are usually excess or leftovers on top of the table so making something out of them is efficient and fun at the same time. I purposely added the chicken fillet just to make it more appealing as to the rice itself is already tasty.
Thus, we start making one now..

Ingredients to make salted egg rice (with chicken nuggets)

Ingredients:

- Cooked rice
- Hard-boiled egg(s)
- Salt

Optional for this version:
- Chicken nuggets (You can use alternatives such as fish, corned beef, etc.)

Kitchen utensils:

- Bowls or Plates for the ingredients (may vary)
- mixer (spoon and/or fork)
Optional for this version:
- Microwave for the chicken nuggets
- Knife to chop the chicken nuggets

Feel free to watch this video or follow the step by step guide below.

Procedure:
1. Cook the chicken nuggets via microwave or frying
2. While waiting - Mix the egg yolk with the cooked rice thoroughly
(I prefer not eating the egg whites, feel free to put them in if you want)
3. Add an approximate amount of salt proportionate to the amount of rice
[Salted egg rice is actually done! Congratulations!]
4. When the chicken nuggets are cooked, slice them into smaller chunks
(just for this version)
5. And we're done! "No sweat"

Salted egg rice with chopped chicken nuggets

I am so addictive to this as it makes the texture of the rice gooey and thicker and I so like it. I even do the same thing with the instant noodles we have here haha - salted egg instant noodles version! I even thought why food establishments don't do such things to their rice as I think it has big potentials to sell big when presented properly.. Well, I can understand the effortful part of mixing but the rewards may be worth it, right? If you believe in it..
Try it too and let me know what you think of this! Looking forward to discussing and sharing more ideas with you guys regarding related things about this dish.
