How To Teach a Teenager to Drive

Posted on the 05 December 2012 by Athomewithcat

Clean out your purse, delete photos and old messages from your cell phone, anything to keep a parent from totally freaking out while they are driving!

Sarah is a good driver.  Her Momma, on the other hand, is not a great passenger.  Not when it involves her little chicks driving.  So, I busied myself with cleaning out my purse, deleting photos and old messages from my cell phone, took pictures of the scenery – anything to look like I was not worried one bit!

Once a week, the kids attend art class that is about 40 minutes away.  When Miss Sarah drives, it is an hour drive which I am TOTALLY okay with!  I snapped a few photos as we cruised along looking like I wasn’t worried one bit dontcha know!

Before we start our little journey, here is some music you may want to listen to:

Knob hills and old tobacco barns…

Old Country Stores that still sell bologna sandwiches and pop.

Lots of curvy roads that still, after 7 years, make me ill if I’m not the one driving.

Big front yards…

Interested in some property?  We could be neighbors!

Another barn…

Just after moving here, Blaine’s mother wanted to do the same and decided to look at property.  One of the places we visited was across a creek.  Yes.  To get to the property, you had to cross the creek in your car.  We asked the realtor what happened when there was a lot of rain or flooding.  He shrugged it off as if it was no big deal and told us that you simply waited a few days until the water went down.  Well, duh!  We are such big city folks!  Carolyn decided to keep looking!

One of many palisades.

Barn quilt…

Farm house…

And one that once was…

Sarah did a great job driving and got us to art class safe and sound.

I love this area and always think how great it would be to buy a couple of acres and live off the land.  Blaine?  If you are reading this, I know you just spewed coffee all over the computer screen just now!    I could do it!  I could!
