In the summer of 2022, a study was conducted to find out how UK consumers use their mobile phones abroad and their holiday mobile roaming habits.
When asked about their holiday mobile roaming habits, UK consumers indicated that they typically use their phones for a variety of activities. The most popular activity was staying in touch with family and friends, followed by checking email or social media. Other popular activities included taking photos or videos, using maps or navigation apps, and listening to music.
Furthermore, the study found that UK consumers are generally very conscientious about their mobile roaming usage and try to avoid incurring high charges. When asked how they manage their mobile usage abroad, the most popular response was to purchase a local SIM card. Other popular responses included using Wi-Fi where possible, turning off data roaming, or only using their phone for emergencies.
Finally, the study found that UK consumers are generally satisfied with their mobile service when traveling abroad. When asked about their experience, the most common response was that they had no problems and were able to use their phone as usual. Other popular responses included that coverage was good or that they experienced only minor issues.
Overall, the results of this study provide valuable insights into how UK consumers use their mobile phones when abroad and what their holiday mobile roaming habits are. Businesses that want to target UK tourists should keep these findings in mind when planning their marketing strategy.
