Hydrated Fishies

Me+:
Just a quick check in. I have a workout post hopefully coming later today or tomorrow. Kyle and I just took a week off from our training and I have done a decent job of staying active over the last week.
Did I mention that I cook/eat fish now? For those of you that know me, know that for a long time I didn't eat any meat. At all. Look at me now!
I have been making salmon and tilapia mostly. I am not very adventurous thus far. I am trying to to keep it as clean as possible and use the best ingredients possible, but still make something that is delicious and that both Eric and I can (and will) eat.
Here is my little attempt at making tilapia.
Buying the ingredients was the easy part. I just walked up to the fishy counter at the grocery store and asked for...you guessed it. Tilapia. The grosser part came at home when I had to touch the raw fish (that will take some getting used to).
Pan Seared Tilapia:
Ingredients
raw fresh tilapia
lemon
salt & pepper
gluten free flour
virgin organic coconut oil
Hydrated Fishies
Directions:
heat a non stick skillet to medium heat
sprinkle flour and salt and pepper on both sides of the tilapia fillet
about 3 tbsp of coconut oil can go in the skillet about 1 minute before you cook the fish
squeeze some lemon juice into the skillet as well
place the fish and cook for about 3 minutes on each side
Tip: Fish doesn't take very long to cook!

Here was the finished product. It was simple, yet tasty. So mission accomplished.
Something else that has been on my mind a lot more for the last few days has been hydration.
It was 34 degrees Celsius today and about 40-45 degrees Celsius with the humidity. YIKES!!! Extreme Heat and Smog warning are in effect. I am sort of obsessed with staying hydrated. I never go anywhere without water.
Here are my tips to make hydration "fun":
1. Use straws-sounds silly but it makes drinking anything feel fancy
2. Always have ice on hand in your freezer
3. Add lemons, limes or other fruits
4. Treat yourself to a Perrier or other carbonated water
5.. Mix coconut water with regular water
6. Put a class in the freezer and make it frosty
7. Make fun ice cubes and create your own endless "iced drinks"
8. Eat a few more fruits and veggies that are made up of water (i.e. cucumber & watermelon)
Here is my homeade iced green tea that I made this afternoon:

Hydrated Fishies

Make a cup of tea in a measuring cup. It will be easier to pour.

Pour the tea in an ice cube tray. Freeze

Make another cup or pot of tea. Allow it to cool.
Then pour some into a glass and add your premade tea ice cubes. Voila!

You may want to add lemon, a little honey or something to sweeten it slightly. Enjoy. The best part is the ice cubes. When you prepare it this way, when the ice starts to melt it won't water down your drink.

You can thank me later for saving you $3-$5 that you have been paying for an iced green tea at Starbucks and for making you look like a savvy DIY guru if you have friends over! Plus no added sugars and all the anti-oxidants and general goodness from drinking fresh green tea.
If you have any tips to ensure that you drink enough water, please share them. I would love to hear them and I usually enjoy trying new things.
Happy Reading,
Me+
