When my sisters and I were small, my Mom brought some non-Kellogg’s cereal into the house.
Now we were pretty much trained to try everything before saying whether or not we liked it. Yes, we were (are?) goody-two-shoes like that.
We didn’t like it. We didn’t like it at all.
The reason being was that we had only ever eaten Kellogg’s products for breakfast and snack cereals, and, although we didn’t know the word at the time, non-Kellogg’s was blasphemy – blasphemy I tell you!!!
Indeed, we went nuts on Fruit Loops and Frosted Flakes, but our absolute favorite was the *snap* *crackle* *pop* Rice Krispies! Just like the kids in the advertisements, we listened to hear the snap, crackle and popping of the cereal talking to us….I don’t believe we made up conversations, but we truly believed that those elves were speaking to us. Today we know better (I think?)
My Mom was probably just happy that we were eating cereal and that it was cereal from a family-friendly, healthy company instead of some sugar-laden crap that a lot of cereal companies tend to try to pass off as cereal.
As teenagers, we moved onto other Kellogg’s favourites, such as Special K and Vector, but no matter what you put in front of us, it still had to be Kellogg’s!
I, unfortunately, can no longer eat their products after learning I’m gluten intolerant and allergic to casein (in dairy), but I am always a little bit jealous when I see any member of my family eating my Kellogg’s favourites (and we are DEFINITELY a Kellogg’s family).
That in mind, I didn’t attempt to work with Kellogg’s when I saw them at the Blissdom Canada 2011 conference last year because I believe in honesty on my blog, and promoting a non-gluten free cereal was just a mute point.
But I should have approached them.

I should have because Kellogg’s has now brought out a Brown Rice Gluten-Free Rice Krispies and I’m ultra-excited! So I applied and they accepted!
I’m proud to say that I’m now a part of the Kellogger’s Blogger Network – and they’ve sent me some awesome swag for doing so.

Thanks Kellogg’s – these are my new favorite bowls and my friends will definitely enjoy all of the cereal.
