For a Friday, I thought I'd add something a little more lighthearted in for the Image of the Day - and this one comes from a lovely wedding reception at the beautiful Bishops Palace in Wells, Somerset.
When photographing the speeches during the wedding breakfast, it's important not to just keep an eye on what's going on at the top table - but also to get a real flavour of the reactions of the guests, too. Some of my favourite wedding images of all time have been of wedding guests during the speeches, as they are far less aware that they're being photographed as their attention is on the speakers. So, the combination of the emotions of the speeches, a few glasses of wine, and the general good cheer that pervades everything by this point of the day, makes for some wonderful moments to document for the bride and groom - most of which they won't be able to see themselves during the speeches.
I know that many people are understandably nervous about giving a speech at their wedding, and often want to get it out of the way as fast as possible so that they can get on and enjoy their wedding reception.... but when you have guests as encouraging as this, then there's very little need to worry!
