Most of the Olympic events that I watch are done now. The only thing that's left is the women's indoor volleyball gold medal match. Swimming is done. Gymnastics are done. Beach volleyball is done and the men are out of the indoor volleyball tournament. As a result, I started watching rhythmic gymnastics this morning while I waited for the US women to play their semifinal game.
Rhythmic gymnastics is weird. I watched a few of the routines where the rhythmic gymnasts used hoops and balls as their props. I've determined that rhythmic gymnastics is a really bizarre combination of dancing (because they did attitude turns and fouettes and other such things), gymnastics (because, you know...it's called "rhythmic gymnastics"), and hula hoop/basketball/medicine ball workouts. Because that's basically what happens when the rhythmic gymnasts use their props. They throw hoops in their and then catch them and swing them around random parts of their body. Or they bounce a ball (that looks an awful lot like a medicine ball) while performing a penche. Or they hold a ball using the back of their head and their back. It's just weird.
In other news, Office Boy bought a suit for my sister's wedding. It arrived yesterday. He texted me to let me know that everything fit and looked good. I asked for a picture. He said I couldn't see it until the wedding. I argued that he'd already seen a picture of me in my bridesmaid dress so I should get to see a picture of him in his suit. He said nope. Not until the wedding.
I feel like we got this backwards somehow...
In other news, casting announcements for "Catching Fire" have been popping up on my newsfeed quite frequently over the last few weeks. I look at the actors and the parts they will be playing and I stop and think to myself, "Wait...who is that character again?" Apparently I need to reread "Catching Fire" so I can determine whether or not I agree with the casting decisions and make my prediction as to whether or not the movie will be as good as "The Hunger Games" was. But I have so many other books that I need to read. Decisions, decisions.
In other news, I got really excited on Friday when my mom and I drove to IKEA on Friday and I noticed that apartment prices had finally dropped. But then I went into the leasing office on Saturday to find that we would've had to lease the apartment that day to get the price. And then they went up. And then they went back down. And then they went up again. And then they went back down. And today they're up again. And I'm getting super annoyed. Just go down enough so that I can move already.
In other news, Office Boy told me yesterday that I'm obsessed with the Olympics. I told him I'm not obsessed with the Olympics, I just happen to really like swimming, gymnastics, and volleyball. Once those are done, I won't really care. He doesn't believe me. He doesn't particularly care about the events, but is obsessed with the medal count. And apparently I'm not allowed to give him updates on things anymore because when I do, he immediately stops what he's doing in order to check the medal count and make sure we're beating China. (For the moment, we are.)
In other news, I got a pedicure last night. I've grown fairly used to the nail technicians asking if I want the razor to scrape off my callouses or a deep callous treatment. That comes with the territory of being a dancer. I have callouses on my feet. Whatever. But I can't help but feel somewhat insulted that every single time I go to get my toes done, the nail technicians seem to find the need to ask the question, "You want eyebrow wax, too?" And then they look all disapprovingly when I say no. My eyebrows aren't that bad. I promise.
In other news, I watched a lot of beach volleyball over the last few days. And I must say, those female beach volleyball players are beast. And while I don't really have any desire to have six- or eight-pack abs like some of those competitors do, I would very much like to have their legs. Because let's face it, they're pretty awesome. And very toned. So yea. That's my new goal. To get legs like the beach volleyball players. You know...minus the height and such.
In other news, Office Boy and I started watching "The Newsroom" last week. We very quickly caught up on all six episodes that had aired already. We shall hopefully be watching episode 7 tonight. But it's legit. And probably one of my new favorite shows. And makes me kind of wish that I had tried to go into broadcasting. But oh well.
In other news, this is probably the most random blog post I've ever written.
Hope you're having a lovely Thursday. :)
