Indigo Eclipse

Posted on the 22 June 2012 by Artbycedar

For awhile now I’ve been wanting to paint a close-up of an eclipse, just an eclipse and nothing else. But I haven’t because it didn’t feel like enough of a concept. It felt too simple, or something. Well, I wanted to do it, so I did, and I like it. Simple, yes, but in its simplicity it is striking.

I call this one “Indigo Eclipse” because of the inky indigo colors. It’s a very dark painting (color-wise) but it’s not too large, so I imagine it adding a punch of dark elegance to an otherwise light room.
