Here's a look that NEVER goes out of fashion for weddings - the quintessentially English look! These images are from a recent wedding at Sherborne Abbey in Dorset and Brympton House in Somerset - and as you can see, the bride just loved roses (as do I!)
This is a really elegant look for any wedding day and one that perfectly suited the period charm of Brympton House, where the reception was held. Even the wedding cake featured sugarcraft roses, in hues of vintage pink, light peach and cream, and those colours already say 'good enough to eat', even before you put them on a delicious wedding cake!
Traditional English weddings are all about these lovely light pink and peachy tones, together with elegant typefaces, delightful glassware and a touch of vintage heritage chic. Many of my clients choose this oh-so-pretty look for their wedding decor, particularly those who have travelled to the UK to hold their wedding celebrations, as it just screams what the English countryside is all about for many people. It's also beautifully understated, which is a key element to consider if you're holding your reception in a stunning period property, as you want to accent the beauty of the venue rather than try and swamp it.
I particularly love the rose coloured ribbons around the napkins, with the little pockets above to pop in a name card or a menu. I remember doing this myself at dinner parties and events, as it's just so chic and yet eminently practical! I also love the cut glass vases used to hold the floral table centres, for they of course work perfectly with all the other glassware on the table. I particularly like the way that the larger centrepieces have been offset and accented with smaller floral posies on the tables, too - the differing heights of the flowers make a really interesting and engaging look. Think of this setup later in the day, with candles on the table and where the candlelight is reflected in all that cut glass.... just magical.
