Introducing New Christmas Traditions
I'm sure that every family has them - those special Christmas time traditions that everybody is familiar with, that you look forward to every year.
We have plenty of them too.
Every Christmas Eve, without fail, we HAVE to wear new pajamas.
It started when I was little, my Mum used to give us new pajamas on Christmas eve because we had to look smart incase Father Christmas saw us!
And its something that's stuck with me - it wouldn't feel like Christmas Eve without new pajamas even now at my age, and I make sure my kids have them too! Preferably Christmas themed!
Another tradition from my childhood is always leaving out a mince pie and a glass of whiskey for Santa, along with a carrot for Rudolph - it never really struck me as odd until now that Santa likes the same tipple as my Dad - just coincidence I`m sure!
Of course since starting my own family, we've wanted to add our own traditions too.
Whenever we decorate our Christmas tree, we MUST have Christmas Music playing in the back ground...
We have to go to the local Christmas light switch on every year without fail!
We have to a nice festive themed bunch of flowers in the house during Christmas Week - Jon usually sends me a bunch right before Christmas which is a tradition I love! They just make the house look and smell so festive and with so many great companies around like Flowers For Everyone it's so easy to organize even during busy times like Christmas!
And on Christmas Eve, we go to our local church service and on our way home we hand out some care boxes to the homeless to keep them warm and fed on Christmas Day.
But introducing new traditions is always nice, isn't it?
This year there are a couple I want to add.
I want to introduce a family Christmas Eve box - I started it last year really by giving Tyne a Christmas Eve hamper but I think I overfilled it and it was just him then so everything inside was his - this year I want to make it more family focused. It'll have our new xmas eve pjs inside, some xmas themed books to read, a xmas dvd to watch and some yummy xmas treats like festive cookies and some Snowman soup to keep us warm!
I am also VERY excited to be introducing this little fella this year:
Introducing New Christmas Traditions
Isn't he just the cutest?!
This is our very own Scout Elf, sent directly from the North Pole! He'll be making his grand entrance on December 1st to deliver our advent calendars and along with the beautiful book he came with to introduce himself to Tyne & Noah!
Every day, our Scout Elf will be hiding somewhere different to keep a little eye on us all over the festive period - he might even get himself into some mischevious pickles along the way!
I know Tyne is going to absolutely LOVE him, and will find it so much to try and spot him each morning of December when he wakes up!
I personally can't wait to see what kind of mischief he gets up to - how very exciting!!
The set he arrived in his far more beautiful than I expected, it is such a lovely keepsake - something so very special to entertain the children for years to come and I think it's a beautiful thing to be passed down to their children too! Our own family scout elf, our special little festive visitor.
I can't wait to see Tyne's face when he arrives on December 1st!
You can find out more about the work of Scout Elves and how to get your own here, you can also follow their fabulously festively fun Facebook feed here!
