As a parent blogger, I recieve press releases for the next "big thing" many many times each day - there's always something that's being marketed as the new "must have" items for Mums, always something that's "totally innovative" and "unlike anything else" - and I'll be totally honest, most of the time I roll my eyes at the emails and send them straight to the trash folder.
The majority of them are things that I just can't see most people having any use for, things that have obviously been invented by a 20-something with no real idea of what would actually make a parents life easier.
But every now and then, you come across a press release for a product that makes you stop and think "Oh wow, THAT would actually make my life significantly easier!"
This week I received one such email from Dutch start up Purseat.
Purseat is a revolutionary 4-in-1 product that is set to eliminate the hassle of parents lugging around heavy car seats when traveling with their little ones. As a Mum of 3 children who all need car seats when travelling, I can absolutely see why a product like this is needed.
When folded, Purseat looks like a hard-case bag which can be carried by hand or over the shoulder. When traveling - whether you're renting a car, taking a flight or just taking a train or a taxi - the Purseat can be transformed into four convenient positions to suit the needs and safety of the child.
These are:
- the purse position - for easy transportation
- a fully reclinable travel bed
- a booster seat
- a car seat that is adjustable to fit children from approximately 3 to 12 years.
In the folded position the product also offers a handy storage space for a tablet, laptop, toys or snacks - keeping fragile items well protected too!
Creator David Li had this to say:
"My wife was developing back pains from regularly transferring large, heavy car seats from one car to the other. When we were traveling with our children, there seemed to be no easy way to take the car seat with us, which meant we would have to rent an expensive and often filthy car seat locally. I was also running a parenting shop in Amsterdam where we would constantly get parents asking us for car seats that were easier to travel with."
The Purseat has been designed to comply with all safety regulations across Asia, Europe and North America and the first of their kind will be available via Kickstarter on 8th May 2017, priced from EUR 212 to EUR 282.
The product is adjustable for children from as young as 18 months to 7 years old for the travel bed position, and from approximately 3 to 12 years for the car seat functions, providing years of return on investment.
