Here’s a funny thing about goals: they can jerk you awake when you least expect it an then hide in the crevices of your thought without even thinking of shouting “olley olley oxen free!” while you toss and turn and finally, a couple hours later, decide to get out of bed and do the best you can with this almost waking-almost sleeping twilight state you’ve been calling home for the last couple hours.
For the unknowing: “olley olley oxen free” was the call the neighborhood kid would yell to tell you it was safe to come out of hiding when playing a game where your goal was to not be found. You could now purposefully be found and all would be well, anyway.
Isn’t this how life is all the way round?
Read it again. Say it aloud if you must.
“All will be well, anyway.”
We can toss and turn and worry.
We can throw glitter toward the sunset and we can wear a mask and we can strip ourselves naked and raw and we can become vegans or we can gorge ourselves on all things unhealthy.
Things will be what they will be and we have the privilege to choose to see that all will be well, anyway.
