I have naturally very curly hair and to straighten my hair I have to blow dry with a round brush about 4 to 5 sections of hair then straighten each section which takes about 45 minutes. It is no easy feat and for the most part, I look forward to days I can go without having to wash. My scalp being so dry helps me to go about 3 days without washing. I touch up my sections each morning and brush several times a day to keep my hair tangle free and smooth.
When I received the HANA Pro 1" Flat Iron I was pleasantly surprised with all of the extras in my box. I received an E.L.F. lip gloss, bath pedals, an eyelash curler, ornament, brush, mat for Flat Iron, and travel bag. Whew, lots of great stuff! The HANA Pro 1" Flat Iron is ceramic, as is my CHI 1" Flat Iron. The difference I noticed was the level of heat. The highest heat setting is 450 degrees. This is great for my course, thick texture and helps me to maintain my straight style longer.
The day I used my HANA iron, I blew dry my hair as normal to smooth my sections and prepare my hair for straightening. The new flat iron was something to get used to because the texture was a bit different than my very used CHI flat iron. The straightener glided over my hair and it only took a couple of strokes to get my hair completely straight. This is normal since my hair is so thick, even with the smaller sections. It took about 40 minutes to straighten my hair with the straightener. My overall feeling was that I was pleased with the HANA Pro 1" Flat Iron and I was happy with the results. I noticed there was no "after heat" smell and I was pleased with the texture of my hair. My style lasted for three days and I noticed that my hair was smooth even on the third day. I was surprised by the extras in my box and the mat was definitely helpful. I cannot tell you how many times I have burned a counter, carpet, or towel because I had nothing else to lay my iron on in between flattening sections.
I don't know that I would purchase another iron simply because they are rather steep in the pricing ($200 retail), and I don't know that the quality is worth the price. I found the quality to be similar to my CHI 1" Flat Iron which runs at about $100 retail. Overall, I will definitely be using this iron again, even if its just for the few times a year that I do straighten my hair.
