If you're a long term reader of my blog then firstly - thank you :) And secondly - you may (or may not) know that I suffer with pain in my back due to scoliosis, which is a curvature of the spine. My scoliosis is not large enough to ever be operated on but it does cause me a lot of pain mostly in the form of muscle stiffness and pain in my joints. This pain can be so intense that it completely and utterly takes over and can therefore leave me feeling very low in myself. I have had to deal with my scoliosis pain for a good few years now and in the beginning it did make me feel very depressed and alone. Being in intense pain all of the time but looking completely normal on the outside can have that lonely effect on you. But now, I don't let my back rule my life, I adjusted my life slowly but surely until I found a balance that allowed me to live as pain free as possible and right now I am doing brilliantly with my pain levels and have never been happier.
So why am I telling you this?
Well, apart from sharing most aspects of my life here on my blog, there is actually more of a relevance to my timing to talk about my scoliosis.. This week it is arthritis week, and although I don't suffer with arthritis myself, my scoliosis pain can cause very very similar symptoms such as the stiffness and pain in the joints. I for one think it is very important to be aware of conditions like this because as I said above, people suffering often suffer in silence, they often appear in as normal health as everybody else - but this isn't always the case and sometimes knowing that someone has some awareness of what they are going through can be of great help.. so with that in mind I have agreed to share the below info graphic here on my blog..
Info graphic is from Stannah - who are a British family run business based in England, making lifts of all types since 1867 and stairlifts from 1975.
